The Framework for Writing Good Prompts

Use this prompt framework to write great prompts for ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and all AI tools. It's a simple 3-step process.

Every once in a while, we like to pull back the curtain and let you peek at the recipe. Today, we’re spilling the beans on how to craft the perfect prompt. Spoiler: it’s less art, more cheat code. Let’s get to the secret sauce.

Today's Prompt: How we believe you should structure a good prompt.

1) Outline the goal and context

Start by adding specifics about what the goal of the prompt is along with context around that goal.

2) Add important details

Follow up with applicable details that will would help an AI model understand how to achieve the goal. AI tools have very little information about you and what you want so add as much information as makes sense

3) Tell it how to respond

End by including guidance on how the AI tool should respond. This can be specific to the structure (bulleted list, formal essay, etc) or even the style (explain like I’m 5 years old, explain it like I’m your boss, etc).

There you have it—the blueprint for prompt-writing greatness. Use this structure and to take your AI outputs from “meh” to “magic.” Now, go and prompt with confidence!
